It’s so simple of a concept, yet so many people miss the mark. According to feng shui principles, (and what I also think is common sense,) the easier it is for people to bring opportunities to your front door, the more you’ll have. So, how do you think THIS person is availing them selves to life’s opportunities? I feel like that one cactus is actually kind of “flipping me off!” Don’t get me wrong, as a landscape architect, I can appreciate a good punctuating “specimen”, but, well, we in the design world would probably be preaching “less is more” to this client.
So, if I had to bring this person the publisher’s clearing house prize, I’ll have to maneuver through that? No thanks. I think we’ll move on to the next house thank you very much.
When I see this type of “home/front door protection” going on, there is usually someone inside that, however conscious or unconscious, feels like they need protecting. Usually a “who done ‘em wrong” kind of scenario…like maybe they were left for another, robbed, or victimized in the past.
There are many ways to protect yourself without killing off all opportunities. You can get your furniture in “the armchair position.” You can use rituals and protection symbols. You can even use other landscape design features like fences and gates to make the home feel more protected, but I would not recommend placing potentially harmful items along the trail that someone would use from the street to the front door.

Spiky sharp cactus thorns by the front entry send a message of go away and you are not welcome here. When I walk through my neighborhood the people with thorny cactus close to their front entries tend to be unfriendly and fearful. Fear is not a positive energy nor is it an inviting energy by your entry.
Remove the cactus and welcome new opportunities!!

I cleaned up our pot of herbs and sorted out the unhealthy looking plants, all outside our front door in our entrance way last weekend and this week my husband got a bonus, and a pay rise then got offered a new job, which he accepted today, which gives him another pay rise! How ’bout them Feng Shui apples!!
We also had a new toilet installed in our downstairs bathroom (in our health bagua) this week and I asked the (elderly) tech if it was okay to put red tape around the bottom before he installed it, and he asked why would I want to do that, so I explained it to him and he asked if I believed in that stuff and have I seen proof, needless to say my answer was yes!
I have also noticed a DISTINCT improvement in my energy level and overall motivation to get my body moving too!
YAY for Feng SHUI!! And YAY to you Karen for introducing me to it with your wonderfully informative and funny book!

Thank you for your gift! Your book was very enlightening and I enjoyed it immensely. I found out why I have no money and can’t get a job! When I place the bagua on my floorplan, it turns out my front door is actually in the extreme left corner of the Knowledge & Skills section and therefore I don’t even have a family OR prosperity area!! Also, my front door juts into the apartment is such a way that I can’t put anything around it and helpful people is outside the entire bagua as well…no wonder I’m having serious problems!!!! I don’t know any way to fix the prosperity area since I live on the second floor, looks like I need to get out of this place except for the problem that I have no money to move or get a new place!! Anyway, your book is great, it explained everything very clearly.
Thank you.

We have someone in our neighborhood whose house looks exactly like this! He is very disagreeable and the children have commented as well. Yesterday, I noticed the house is up for sale! The way it is positioned, it is a “poison arrow” for other homes. I hope the new owners take down the cacti and “Keep Out” signs. Doesn’t exactly say “puppies and kittens” to outsiders.
