How to Cure Insomnia from a Feng Shui and Bau-Biology Perspective Q and A

QUESTION:I have been struggling with insomnia and headaches for 4 years. I have done all the feng shui cures that I could do in my entire house, and although I am seeing results in other areas of my life, I am not seeing any changes with this problem. Help!
Sleepless in Scottsdale.

ANSWER: Dear Sleepless in Scottsdale,
I’m answering this assuming you’ve done all the traditional feng shui things like fixed poison arrows and sloping ceilings and beams, etc. I’m glad you’ve handled the traditional feng shui items, but do you know of “the modern” feng shui items that may need to be “cured?”

You may be effected by a number of invisible energies within the home. There are EMF’s (electromagnetic frequencies – which is basically a type of radiation), electrical fields, and geopathic stress just to name a few.  When I do on-site consultations,  I test (with a tri-field meter and an e-field “buzz stick” meter) for these issues in the homes of my clients.

Without doing the proper diagnosis with the equipment,  I would recommend removing ANYTHING that is plugged in to an electrical outlet from your bed area or even bedroom. Unplug any lamps near by.  Look at what is on the other side of the wall from your headboard and see if there is anything plugged in and drawing electricity on that side of the wall as these frequencies go right through the walls. Basically, shut down the circuit of the bedroom at the circuit panel/fuse box at night when you sleep and see if that helps. And for goodness sake, if the circuit panel/fuse box is anywhere near your bed, sleep somewhere else or relocate it!

You may also be holding this electrical pattern in your body which may need to be released. There are meters to check it as well, but, without knowing for sure, let me just make this simple suggestion: go outside, and dig your bare feet into the dirt for about fifteen minutes a day and see if you get any results from that. This may help ground you and help pull some of the voltage off of your energy field/body if it is indeed present. Oh, and one last thing, try air-drying your hair, or getting one of those blow dryers like you see in some hotels where the motor is attached to the wall, and you only hold the hose with air in it. There are some low EMF blow dryers out there these days if you want to go that route, but they can be expensive.) This removes the electrical and electro-magnetic fields (from the motor) from getting dangerously close to your head. (Yes, hair dryers are spewing electrical and electro-magnetic fields all over your head while you are drying it!)

If you’ve done all that, and after a time (say a week or so?) you still don’t notice any difference in sleep patterns, then I’d get a dowser or feng shui practitioner over there and see if you’ve got geopathic stress. This is an earth radiation/energy pattern that is not conducive to health or at a minimum, sleeping well.

If you can get these invisible energy things cleared up in your home, you’ll have a way better chance of having a good night’s sleep. (I’ve also seen this same list of changes help someone who is having multiple miscarriages too!)

I live in a very small a-frame on an island in Honduras. There are windows and doors at either end, but they are not directly alligned; each is to one side of the center. There is a small loft, with the kitchen below it and the bathroom to one side, covering about half the house. My 2 bunkbeds are in the main living space and my art supplies and mattress from one bed are in the loft. The house is made of wooden beams and corrugated zinc. Where should i sleep and work?
Thankyou so much for your advice, Paige

My goal is to change people’s lives for the better as opposed to “fixing houses.” Unfortunately, I would have to have a bit more information to give a sensible answer. That is why I have the many choices for consulting with me on my web site: http://www.karenrauchcarter.com/consulting/ I would recommend a solution where I actually see the space in pictures so I can get the best answer possible back to you. Hope that is helpful. :)

Hi Karen, My name is Adelixa. I have always been interested in feng shui and enjoy reading your website. I have a question about me finding true love. I am a 39 year old single mom with a 9 year old boy. I live in a one bedroom apartment and we both sleep in the same room (separate beds). Will this stop me from finding love? I want to have a family, be more successful and live a happy life but feel like it will not happen for me. I am so grateful to have the blessing of being a mom, but I want so much more Karen!

Just make sure you have some space dedicated for “him” in every room in the home so “when he arrives” he feels welcome. I think that would be a great start for you to honor space like that in your home which should get the flow a movin’… – even if it is small. :)

    Hi Karen!

I just moved and I decided the master bedroom would be on the lower level since it is a split level home. In the bedroom is the circuit breaker and your post was timely because I can’t sleep. Since the house has 3 bedrooms and I don’t want the kids to have insomnia, what can I do? Thank you for advice in advance.

Start by hiring someone who can test to actually see exactly what you’ve got…then you can figure out how to mitigate it.
