Job Interview Tips with Feng Shui

My son is auditioning for an arts school this month, which reminded me to pull out the feng shui tips for job interviews. Here are some of my ideas to maximize success:

1. Employ the “helpful people box.” Place the name of the person you are interviewing with, the company name, and anyone else you can think of that needs to be helpful with regard to you getting this job on paper (try red to activate it) and place it in a metal box with a lid or a metallic envelope, and then place that box or metallic envelope in the front right-hand part of your home or your desk space with the intention of everyone on that list helping you in this endeavor.

2. Start a “fake-it-till-you-make-it diary.” Write down each day how your day goes now that you are employed with this company – diary-style…”For example, “today, I got up excited to get into work today because all of the work I do there is so exciting and rewarding! I literally say to myself all the time “I’m so lucky to have this awesome job!” It feels great to be in such a good position to be so helpful… – whatever you want to say here… Write every day, just like you would write a diary…you might want to do this fake diary cure as if you are talking about your ultimate DRAEM JOB instead of the one you are interviewing for, in case there is a better fit out there for you. (This employs trust – if you do not get this current job, you gotta keep writing as that better on is finding its way to you!)

3. Wear something blue if you do a face to face interview as it denotes “trust-worthiness.”

4. Wear something red (can even be and probably is preferable to be hidden) to give you a little extra “power” during the interview.

5. Peel 9 orange pieces of peel off of an orange and place those bits in your pocket with intentions of clearing any negativity off of you during this interview.

6. Have a neat, clean, and big-enough-to do-the-job desk space built and ready to go at home. Even if you are not going to use it for this job, it will energetically say “I’ve got the time and space to handle this job.”  If you are living in a Starbucks off of a laptop and can’t figure out why you do not have full time PERMANENT employment, consider that your desk space is saying “you are temporary” for you.

7. Be on time, be prepared, and know how to interview – everyone always expects feng shui to be oddball, but the mundane every-day stuff IS important to your feng shui too!

Spring Time Weight Loss with Feng Shui

Here are my quick feng shui tips for weight loss and the general waking up of the body for spring and the activities that go with it:

For weight loss:

  1. Avoid seeing the kitchen from the front door. If you have this condition, try to create an eye-catching view in another direction when walking in to attract your focus in that direction. (A couple of ideas are to add saloon doors or those cloth entry hangings that Japanese restaurants use at their doors.)

  2. Using a black tablecloth or placemats on the table can often defer eating.
  3. Place black or blue near, around or on the refrigerator.
  4. De-clutter. Dig into places you’ve been avoiding forever. The mere act of cleaning out stuff of weight in the home can indeed affect the weight of the person doing the cleaning!
  5. Pray before eating. If you are not into praying, then stop and think and do some intending prior to eating. Visualize that the food you need to nourish your body will remain within it and the food that is not necessary either remain on the plate or visualize that it simply pass through and not stick around on and in your body. Being conscious in the moments before eating can set up a positive spiral that stays throughout the meal and then perhaps even long after.

For waking up the body for spring and the activities that go with it:

  1. Use mirrors in your home to activate your body and get it moving! Maybe you can keep yourself moving right past the snack cabinet! If you’ve ever been in a gym, think about how many mirrors they have inside. Now, think of what it would feel like if the mirrors weren’t there. Just another sweaty-smelling, sleepy room with a bunch of metal in it.
  2. The color red is an activating color. Placing red in your surroundings with the intention of keeping your body and energy activated can be beneficial this time of year as well.

Are You Willing to be Slime?

What stage are you living now?

I was just working with a client who’s sadness, along with her constant state of doing, forcing, controlling, and every which way trying to avoid sadness, has created much suffering in her life. And when it came to the moment in our conversation, where we both knew that if we continued forward, it would shatter the old concepts in such a way that she could no longer run the “old show,” she retreated, citing physically ill feelings as “her excuse.”

Oh, the places we stop ourselves! The places we take the road ALWAYS traveled even though we know it isn’t going to get us there. Oh, the opportunity lost. What miracle could have been birthed…

Birth is violent! Birth is bloody. Birth is painful! Does that mean it should be avoided? Where would we all be if no one was willing to go through it?

What if all caterpillars said, “Yea, butterflies are great and all, but there’s that whole chrysalis thing – turning into slime mid stream…yea, uh, I don’t get that so…sorry…not going there!”

Where are you not allowing yourself to live fully? Where do you stop yourself because of some fear, or physical and familiar “gut feeling?”

What if you did – went for it – did it anyway? How would your life be different? Would you fly?
